First Tee is an international youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to kids and teens. Through after-school and in-school programs, we help kids discover what’s inside of them, guide them to strengthen it, and mentor them to put it into action in everything they do. We believe in developing the ones that are just as fun as they are meaningful, where kids feel excited to grow, safe to fail, and are better equipped for whatever comes their way next.
First Tee — Triangle was founded in 2004 as The First Tee of Wake County. After a few years of steady growth, The First Tee of Wake County became First Tee — Triangle in 2007 and began to pilot outreach programs. We proudly serve youth at six golf course facilities across the Triangle and 45 Wake County Elementary schools.
Since inception in 2004, we are proud to say that we have served nearly 8,600 kids in our high-impact program. We serve over 1,600 kids annually that come from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds and differ in gender and socioeconomic status. 54% of our students are non-Caucasian, 38% are female, and 51% have received a scholarship to participate. 40% of our staff and coaches are non-Caucasian and 66% are female.
To us, the most important part of our mission is to serve kids of all ages and backgrounds through the game of golf.
